CHM1321/1721: π-bonds Electrophile Reactions

CHM1321/1721: π-bonds Electrophile Reactions

Review Session Details
  • Understanding base and nucleophiles
  • Aprotic solvents or 'Dead' solvents
  • Lonepairs that are base only (not nucleophiles)
  • Two general mechanisms for ALL π-bond electrophilic reactions:
    • Mechanism #1 (Basic conditions)
    • Mechanism #2 (Acidic conditions)
  • Grignard reagents andorganometallic reagents
  • Boron/Aluminum hydrate reagents (i.e., NaBH4 and LiAlH4)
  • Mechanism for hemi-acetals
  • Find the missing reagents
  • Review Session will include problem solving from past Midterm questions.
  • All registered students will receive "Midterm 2 Package" that includes multiple Midterms related to the above topics from previous years given by uOttawa Professors!
