  • Identification of atom's hybridization
  • Formal charges and lone pairs
  • Drawing LCAO structures 
  • Key condensed formula (i.e., COOH, CHO NO2, CN etc.)
  • Molecular orbital (MO) theory 
  • Bonding and antibonding orbitals
  • Calculating Bond Order
  • Drawing MO diagrams
  • Molecular interaction (i.e. hydrogen bonding, Van der Waals forces) to determine boiling and melting points)

 

  • Review Session will include problem solving from past Midterm questions.
  • All registered students will receive "Midterm 1 Package" that includes multiple Midterms related to the above topics from previous years given by uOttawa Professors!
